The remote is a nice quality-of-life feature for me (I keep the device across the room & the remote with my others in the desk) but it may be incidental to some. Bottom line, you don't need the remote to change any & all settings so it may be incidental outright, but I like it. I love the USB-C power, albeit that may be personal as well. I have it powered from a smart USB strip & it turns on from that just fine & resumes the same settings, too.
