The best functions are that it is run by a battery so there is no electric cord to drape or reach a plug. It held a charge for at least 6 cardio sessions (30-45min each). The next best function is the adjustable dial - I start off on a low setting but as my cardio increases I can slowly turn up the speed to keep me cool. The adjustable dial lets you customize the amount of air - not a set three levels like other fans. When I'm at the peak of my workout and sweating the highest setting almost makes me too cold - but I like that since I hate to be hot during cardio. For such a small fan the highest setting packs a good punch of air. I haven't taken it anywhere but I think the portability factor is a good feature.
